To kick off the New Year, yesterday I took a photo of our Military Macaw Wanda with my new macro lens. I think the picture turned out great and I am amazed at the detail. We have had Wanda for about a year. Wanda is slightly handicapped she has a foot that is turned out the wrong way. When she was only a few days old her care taker mistakenly messed up the baby formula. Because of the mistake her kidneys failed and she ballooned up. Unfortunately her legs were not strong enough to support the extra body weight and one of her ankles collapsed. Her leg healed that way. It doesn't seem to affect her much she occasionally looses her balance and falls off of perch but she weathers it well. When she walks around the house we hear thump-slide...thump-slide as her feet pitter patter on the floor.
